Quilt challenge using the blue fabric

Made and longarm quilted by Judith Tendick

(Note that the color is shifted in the last photo to increase the contrast and better show Judy's quilting.)
Her Royal Highness

Pieced and quilted by Carol Eagan

I used scraps from a previous project. The colors remind me of royalty, so I named it in honor of myself: Her Royal Highness.

Wall hanging
Football Table Runner

Pieced and quilted by Pat Basch

My husband enjoys having friends over to watch football, especially the Green Bay Packers. This table runner was a 2010 Christmas gift and will be used during his football parties.
Asian wall hanging

Pieced and quilted by Rosemary Root

Some Asian fabrics are so beautiful that I can hardly bear to cut them up. This type of wall hanging is a good way to show off such lovely fabrics.
Half Yard Delight

Piece by Sally Mortenson.  Longarm quilted by Lynette Gelling.

My friend Mary Maynard had only a half yard of a beautiful fabric she wanted to feature in a quilt. This design was the result. I have made it for my yet-to-be-conceived granddaughter.

Cool, Crazy Carol

Pieced and quilted by Carol Eagan

This quilt grew out of an online challenge to work with repeats. I started with repeating the letter C, for Carol, and it grew into this autobiographical quilt. This quilt does actually talk!
Fun Fall Stack and Whack

Pieced by Mo Johnson.   Longarm quilted by Diane Schotl.

I can’t remember when I made this (2003, I think). It was fun to dig out this UFO and finish it with Diane’s help.

Floral Kaleidoscope

Pieced and quilted by Erin Grant.  Longarm quilted by Carrie Ekmark.

This is the first quilt that I made for myself. I love the fabrics and the pattern and was delighted with the outcome.
Kaffe Fasset Scrappy

Pieced and quilted by Kaye Goers

I just played with the scraps and came up with this original.

Stepping Out

Pieced by Erin Grant.  Longarm quilted by Nanette Sutherland.

I purchased this as a kit at the Minnesota Quilter's show some years back.  I loved the sample, which was a bit surprising sine I'm not usually drawn to batiks.  I gave ths quilt to my sister as a Christmas gift.  It's the first quilt that I've made for her, and she was thrilled to receive it.
Sharing the Shores

Piece by Shari Hubred and Kristen Kingsbury.  Longarm quilted by Page Johnson.

A first endeavor at quilting by my oldest daughter and me.  She and her husband purchased a lake cottage, and this quilt hangs in their front room at West Battle Lake, Minnesota.

A Honeymoon with Ross and Van Gogh

Pieced by Shari Hubred.  Longarm quilted by Diane Schotl

My youngest daughter was married in September 2010. She and her husband honeymooned in Paris and visited several art galleries. I ran across the Van Gogh fabric online and asked my friend Rosemary Root if she thought it would be as pretty “in person.” Lo and behold she had it isn her stash and asked if I would like to have it.  Of course!

Pam's Dresser "Scarf"

Pieced and quilted by Marsha Millonig.

My BFF in the Washington, D.C., area has been waiting for Trisha and me to quilt a silk scarf of her late mother’s. We still haven’t tackled that project. On my last visit Pam had bought a new master bedroom comforter set. These Moda squares I bought at one of our meetings were perfect to make her dresser scarf.

Bargello

Pieced and quilted by Jeannette Root.

This quilt was a model I made when I was employed by Hancock Fabrics. It shows the use of metallic thread for quilting.

Wall hanging
Diamond Joy

Pieced by Sandi Irish.  Longarm quilted by Beth Kobliska.

This quilt was made for Blank Quilting Fabrics for the Spring Quilt Market in Minneapolis in 2010. I was in a time crunch, so Beth quilted it for me. Lucky us! It was featured in the January 2011 issue of “For the Love of Quilting” magazine. This was the alternative color way in the magazine.

Coffee Break

Pieced and longarm quilted by Susie Smidt.

This table topper is pieced from a jelly roll of coffee fabrics. I did the longarm quilting using designs from a class by Irena Bluhm.
Sampler

Pieced and quilted by Jeannette Root.

As a rule, I don't like samplers. But I made this when I was employed by Hancock Fabrics, and I had the whole store to choose from, so this one was fun.

My Free Japan Quilt

Pieced and longarm quilted by Sue Tobias.

I made a quilt for my daughter while she was teaching English in Japan for seven weeks, and this quilt was made from the leftover scraps. I made up the pattern. My daughter doesn’t live at home, but this quilt will be on the futon in her room at home.

Made as a sample for Artspoken Fabrics with Marit Kucera's hand-dyed fabrics, incorporating them with commercial fabrics.

I made this during the quilt show in 2010 in the class taught by Tracy Trevethan.

I'm Going to be a Grandma!

Pieced and quilted by Mo Johnson

As soon as I found out that I was going to be a grandma, I made a quilt.

Batik Beauty

Pieced and quilted by Jeannette Root.

My friend Janet bought this as a kit and decided she didn't like doing paper piecing. So I got it!

Wall hanging
Christmas

Made by Diane Gooding and Jackie Evans.

I embroidered 8 x 10 Christmas blocks while on break when working at Target in 1998 to 2001. I went to my sister Jackie's at Christmas in 2003; she showed me how to quilt the nine-patch and to put the quilt together. That's the day I got addicted to quilting.

Wreath

Pieced and quilted by Kaye Goers

I had the pattern cut out years ago, and finally completed it.

Table Runner

Pieced and longarm quilted by Sue Tobias.

I wanted to try the Cathedral Windows pattern, but I didn’t want to commit to a whole quilt. I saw a picture of a block in a magazine and used that as a pattern.

Surprise!

Pieced by Elizabeth Moore.  Longarm quilted by Nanette Sutherland.

I admired this quilt kit at a quilt store but decided against purchasing it. I immediately regretted not buying it and called the store, only to find that they had just sold the last one. Shortly thereafter—surprise!—I received the kit from my quilting fr
Sun Rise

Pieced and quilted by Jeannette Root

This quilt was a model I made when I was employed by Hancock Fabrics. The “butternut” block was a challenge since it has so many points meeting at the center.

Parallex

Pieced and quilted by Rosemary Root.

This wall hanging is the result of a class I took with Jan Myers at the Split Rock Arts Program.

A Christmas Present

Pieced and longarm quilted by Nanette Sutherland.

A belated Christmas present for my stepmother.

Small lap size

Upper left:  Wreath by Mo Johnson.  I bought the pine cone fabric and the pattern in Grand Marais at a cute shop that used to be a garage. I experimented with gold thread in my new machine!

Lower left:  Thanksgiving Family Retreat by Diane Gooding.  My sister Jackie stopped at the Ankeny, Iowa, quilt shop on the way to my house for a family Thanksgiving and sewing weekend in 2009. Three sisters and a sister-in-law had a great time, and we all have this table runner to member the weekend.

Right:  Christmas Waffle Time by Trisha Millonig. Made at the 2010 DCSQ fall retreat at Camp Wapo in Amery, Wisconsin.  Table runner.
oops - did not take a photo of Mo's quilt Quilt #3 for the New Grandson

Pieced and quilted by Mo Johnson.

I found this kit at the St. Cloud quilt show.  I pre-washed the fabric and ended up short on the brown check fabric because of shrinkage.   Some say pre-wash and some say don't.  I say maybe a kit isn't the way to go.  I had fun with the fancy stitches.  They take a lot of thread.
