Mission:

The purpose of Dakota County Star Quilters shall be to contribute to the growth of knowledge about quilting techniques, patterns, history and quilt-making by providing educational meetings, fun and fellowship, by sponsoring and supporting quilting activities, by encouraging quilt-making, and by promoting the appreciation and knowledge of quilts.

 

We are located in Dakota County, Minnesota, near Minneapolis and St. Paul.

Meetings:

Visitors are always welcome. Thinking of joining?  Come to a meeting and get to know us.

DCSQ meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month, 7-9 pm, at the Eagan Community Center, Eagan, Minnesota.  (Click here for directions.

In February, our meeting is at our annual quilt show at the Dakota County Historical Society in South St Paul.

 The July meeting is a potluck picnic at a park in Eagan.

"This quilt was made in the February '08 mystery class taught by Jeannette Root and Barb Boyd.  The houses are free-pieced.  The bells represent doorbells."

"This year instead of participating in the Bag of Stuff challenge, I made my own small quilt.  To make the quilt in this piece, I used pieces left over from the previous year's challenge.

"I made this wall hanging out of the scraps from the quilt I made for my daughter Sonja when she left for college.  In those first few weeks when I was missing her so much it made me feel better and just a little bit closer to her to work on it."

"This is one of my earlier quilts, made when I had little kids at home.  It's all done by hand so I could pick it up and work on it when they were quiet.  It's small enough that I could get it done and not be overwhelmed."

"I used a Halloween table topper pattern and converted it to Christmas prints.  It was a gift for my daughter.  She always hosts our family Christmas.  I purchased the fabrics in Salt Lake City while visiting my sister.

"This quilt was made for my granddaughter.  She helped me pick out the pattern and the fabrics.  The curved pieces were actually fun after I got into it and the best part was you cut the blocks to the smallest one made."
