About Dakota County Star Quilters | |
|
Origins: The Dakota County Star Quilters originated when a small group of quilters who had been driving to Pine Island, Minnesota, for guild meetings decided to form their own guild. They started the DCSQ in September 1995 with seven members. Currently the group has about 70 quilters with diverse quilting abilities, and interests.
Quilt Show: In February 1996, DCSQ held their first quilt show at the Dakota County Historical Museum in South St. Paul. This is now an annual event. On public display are more than 100 quilts and quilted items made by DCSQ guild members. The quilt show also features a quilt challenge, silent auction, classes, boutique, open house and guest speaker. Click here for more information about our upcoming show, and photos of past shows.
Service Projects: DCSQ members make and donate quilts and sewing skills to a number of charitable organizations and projects. Most recently, members have been active in two projects supporting our military veterans, and their families, Home of the Brave and Quilts of Valor.
Membership: We have about 70 members, and are a very active group. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in quilting. Dues are $24.00 a year, and are pro-rated by month, ($2.00 for each month remaining in the current year). Members have access to library material, block of the month exchange, mystery projects, displaying items in our annual quilt show, our annual quilt retreat, shop hops, and other activities. It's a great opportunity to make new friends who share your interest in quilting. Please feel free to come to a meeting, and get to know us, whether you're interested in joining, or just curious. Click here for a membership application.
Monthly meetings: We meet the from 7-9 pm, the second Tuesday of each month at the Community Center, in Eagan. In February our meeting is at the Dakota County Historical Society, 130 3rd Avenue North, South St. Paul, Minnesota. In July we meet in a park in Eagan, for our annual potluck. Contact us for exact location. Each meeting is jam packed with activities - speakers, demonstrations, show and tell, service projects, block exchanges, door prize drawings, charm square raffles, and just chatting and making friends. New member packets area available at our meetings. Or click here to contact us by email for more information.
The community center is off of Pilot Knob Road between Lone Oak Road and Yankee Doodle Road in Eagan. Turn west off of Pilot Knob onto Center Parkway. Follow Center Parkway to the sign for the Eagan Community Center and turn right. Follow the signs for “All Deliveries” (second right turn). The road winds around to the lower level of the parking lot. Enter through the lower-level door and look for the sign indicating which room we are meeting in.
Note: No outside food or beverages are allowed in the community center. Concessions are available.
